90-day paid maternity leave from date of delivery
DWE advocated for the amendment of the maternity leave policy in Dubai.
In 2017, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai issued Decree No (14) of 2017 on maternity and childcare leave for female employees of Dubai Government.
Objective
To promote work-life balance for female employees and provide legislative frameworks to support gender balance.
Scope
- A full-time or part-time employee is entitled to a 90-day paid maternity leave from the delivery of the child. An employee who has gone through a miscarriage is entitled to sick leave, while an employee who gave birth to a child with disability is entitled to childcare leave of one year.
- Nursing hour policy is two hours, starting from the end of maternity leave for the duration of a year.
