National Corporate Child Care Project (NCCP)

Launched under the direction of Her Highness Sheikha Manal Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in line with the UAE Cabinet Policy on Corporate Child Care Center Law (19) 2006, the National Corporate Child Care Project is a landmark initiative promoted by DWE.

The programme complements DWE’s mandate to support working mothers by providing them the convenience of a quality child care centre at their workplace. This is in line with the Law, which makes it mandatory for establishing day care centres at every Ministry, Government Authority, public establishments and government departments.

The National Corporate Child Care Project strives to enhance the standard of child care at these centres, by incorporating global best practices in addition to traditional values. The project also aims to create employment opportunities for Emirati women at the centres by empowering them through appropriate training and employment programmes.

The National Child Care Standard is based on established findings and recognized benchmarks that address various aspects of child care including: Care and Learning Activities, Safety and Security, Healthcare, Nutrition, Partnership with Parents, Licensing and Administration, Building & Equipment, and Organizational Structure.

With activities for the inception of the centres gaining full momentum under DWE in the last quarter of 2008, the first Child Care Centre in a Dubai Government Department was opened at Dubai Customs in March 2009. Since then, DWE has successfully supported the opening of several child care centres across other governmental departments.
